Manchester Irish Festival St Patrick's Day Parade
The 2019 Manchester Irish Festival St Patrick's Day Parade will leave the Irish World Heritage Centre at 12 noon on Sunday 11 March and will finish at Albert Square around 1pm.
The Irish World Heritage Centre held their first St Patrick’s Day Parade on the 17th March 1990 when the members paraded to St. Chad’s Church and attended a Mass celebrated by Fr. McGarry before returning to the Centre. The Longford Association were the first to display a parade banner of their county. Now all 32 counties are displayed throughout the parade.
Over the years we have had members of the Irish Government walk with us, including the Taoiseach of Ireland Bertie Aherne, and Ministers, Brendan Smith and John O’Donaghue. Tens of thousands of people turn out to line the route of the parade to revel in the party atmosphere and join in the celebrations.
